We believe our designs are the best on the market because we have combined scientific data with an artistic dimension to make beautiful yet accurate renderings. We use the latest NASA data and algorithms to compute precisely the positions of the planets and dwarf planets, as well as their orbital paths. We have tested our output extensively against results available on JPL's systems because we strive for the best quality and accuracy.

We then process the numbers in a 3d projection to generate a depiction of the Solar System that is unique to the date you requested. No two different dates produce the same design, that's why SpaceTime Coordinates products are so distinctive and personal. We generate the graphics uniquely and carefully for each order we receive to make sure that your STC item represents *your* special place in space and time.

Precious Plated

Cast in Brass before going through extensive hand polishing to create a smooth surface texture. After being cast, we underplate the brass with a tin-rhodium alloy to provide strength and durability. Your Memento is then plated with .25 microns of the precious metal of choice.

14k Gold has a subtle, warm coloring, while 18k Gold is brighter and more vibrant. 14k Rose Gold has a pinkish tint, and Rhodium looks like silver.

The outcome is a beautiful shiny luster with a high level of detail and smooth surface finish.

How it's 3D printed

Precious Plated Metal models are fabricated using a complex seven-step process. First, the model is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D Printer. It is then put in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it. Once the plaster sets, the wax is melted out in a furnace, and the remaining plaster becomes the mold.

Molten brass is poured into this mold and set to harden. The plaster is broken away, and your product is carefully cleaned and hand polished. Each product goes through two plating steps - first a layer of tin-rhodium is applied to provide strength and durability. Then your selected precious metal plating provides the finishing touch.

To provide additional protection against wear and tarnishing, we deposit a very thin nanocoating on top of the precious plating. However, this nanocoating will rub off with time and wear.

Handling and care

Precious Plated Metal is a durable material, but can still scratch or wear through. Prolonged surface wear can rub off the finish. To prevent damage, we recommend storing your item in a soft cloth pouch away from other products, and avoiding exposure to household chemicals and cleaning products.

Solid Gold & Platinum

All Gold and Platinum products go through extensive hand-polishing to give them a smooth, shiny finish.

14k Gold has a subtle, warm coloring, while 18k Gold is brighter and more vibrant. 14k Rose Gold has a pinkish tint, and 14k White Gold looks like silver with a hint of gold. Platinum has a bright silver-white color

The color difference between 14K and 18K is caused by the amount of gold used. You will also notice that an 18K gold item will be heavier than the same item in 14K gold.

We use Lost-Wax Printing and Casting. This means we first 3D print your model in wax and then cast it the traditional way.

How it's 3D printed

Solid Gold/Platinum models are 3D printed using a complex five-step process. First, the model is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D printer. It is then put in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it. When the plaster sets, the wax is melted out in a furnace, and the remaining plaster becomes the mold.

Molten Gold/Platinum is poured into this mold and set to harden. The plaster is broken away, revealing your new product. The product is then carefully cleaned and hand-polished to give it the trademark luster.

When we hand-polish, some material will inherently be worn off. Please note that the volume of your finished product may be up to 10% less than the original model due to shrinkage and polishing loss.

Handling and care

Solid Gold and Platinum can be maintained with most non-abrasive cleaners. Avoid exposing to household bleach, which can cause corrosion and discoloration.

Disclaimer

14k White Gold contains 9% Nickel.

Some people may have a Nickel allergic reaction, but the amount of Nickel is so low it often does not trigger an allergic reaction
